Not Just A Kitchen, Its Center Stage

Middleburg Design presents a renovated kitchen space that is both functional and elegant, and the center stage of this Georgian home. Tucked away outside the village of Middleburg, Virginia is a traditional residence that had the age-old dilemma – How to maintain gracious aspects of the past, and still keep pace with the realities of modern living? In an older home, the kitchen is usually a separate room far at the back of the house. Strictly utilitarian, it is a far cry from the warm, multipurpose room that appears in newer homes. This Fauquier County residence really reflects the phrase, “moving forward” with its lighter and brighter interior with a more open-plan space without sacrificing traditional detailing – both form and function – transformed.

The MDC cabinetry designer – Stephanie Pritchard – utilized the custom cabinetry line – Signature Cabinetry – to assist in the transition of this kitchen space. Design inspiration comes from many sources, but sometimes a single item can inspire an entire kitchen. Such was the case with this kitchen where the homeowner wanted to have Schonbeck crystal chandeliers be the main focus of their renovated kitchen.   The furniture-style painted cabinets are complimented by Viking, Dacor and Miele appliances – Newport Brass & Blanco plumbing fixtures – and Bianco Rhino marble countertops and walnut/marble floors.
